Jackson’s Emerging Artist Prize 2018London – The Jackson’s Emerging Artist Prize 2018 is open for entries. The Jackson’s Emerging Artist Prize has been established to help elevate artists’ professional practices by offering the winners Jackson’s Gift Vouchers and valuable exposure within the art world. This is an opportunity for contemporary artists who are serious about making a career from their practice, to exhibit in an online showcase amongst their contemporaries on an international platform.

This online competition is for 2D Fine Art practices only, with prizes awarded in the three categories of Painting, Drawing and Printmaking as well as People’s Choice Awards across all three disciplines.

As this is a competition for emerging artists, entries that have previously won a competition or that have been extensively exhibited are not accepted. Open to international artists, entries from all over the world are accepted. The entry process is online, as will be the longlist gallery. Entrants must be 16 years or older. This online competition is free.

Prizes are as following.

Awards include an editorial feature in a medium-specific contemporary art publication and £400 of Jackson’s vouchers for art materials.

There are three Medium-based Prizes: £400 Jackson’s Art Gift Voucher each + editorial features with Medium Specific Publication or Online Platform.

Winners will be selected by Jackson’s Judging Panel.

There are three People’s Choice Awards: £50 Jackson’s Art Gift Voucher each. Winners determined by public vote – the 3 artworks with the highest number of votes wins Contemporary Art Publications who will be featuring Winners are as follows:

WAVE Collective – aims to offer a platform for emerging artists to display their artistic practice, both online and through exhibitions at Camel by the Green.

The Practical Creative Podcast – featuring in-depth interviews with artists and makers about tools, techniques, inspiration and mindset.

The Hand Magazine – presenting the most innovative and unique contemporary photography, printmaking and collage artwork in the world.

Floorr Magazine – features established artists alongside emerging talent, with 7-8 online publications a year. Based in South London and artist run, they aim to showcase and interview talented artists from across the world.

Thinking through Drawing TtD – an interdisciplinary education and research network that runs drawing symposia, professional development courses, creativity workshops, fosters collaborations and publishes research on drawing and cognition.

Pressing Matters – an independently-run publication, honing in on the people, passion and processes behind the artform of printmaking.

Key Dates are as following:

Entries open: 9am, 1st October 2018

Entries close: 11:59pm, 30th November 2018

Longlist announced: 5th December 2018

Public Voting opens: 5th December 2018

Shortlist announced: 12th December 2018

Winners announced: 14th December 2018

This award is organised by Jackson’s Art Supplies a well-established maker and supplier of art materials. Their mission is to provide artists of all abilities with the paints, inks, paper, ideas and every tool imaginable to help them realise their creative potential. Jackson’s Art Supplies sells from two outlets in London, from a warehouse shop in Gloucester, and online.
